Food is for sharing..
In Greek Piatakia mens „small plates“. Some plates are meant to be broken, others are for serving meze.
Meze is a word with rich history. Its meaning „mixed d’ordeuvres“ does not say it all.
To us Greeks, meze is to be eaten with toothpicks, small forks, knives… and sometimes fingers, while having drinks and pleasant conversation. For us meze is not only about consuming food but about chatting, laughing, having fun. In our culture meze is enjoyment for all senses!
Being with friends, sharing food, wine, ouzo, while listening to music and the waves be it day or night – this is what our soul is made of.
Meze is to be shared and ejoyed by all. Be it a modest meal with a few olives and a piece of cheese, or an elaborate one with sophisicated sauces, grilled meats, calamari and baked dough with yummy fillings – the pleasure is always complete.
Meze is mostly about loving life – in all its aspects. Meze at its core is about gathering of friends and family to share precious time, tasty food and good wine. In short – it is sharing and enjoying.
